This is a bold, re-envisioned editorial design for HOTROD magazine, an American car magazine devoted to hot rodding, drag racing, and muscle cars. Traditionally, HOTROD has been a favorite among blue-collar American workers. However, I've taken the step to upscale it into a high-end publication, targeting the newest generation of hot rod enthusiasts and rebuilders. The vision was not just to elevate the design, but to do so while preserving the core integrity and themes that make HOTROD unique. I put a spotlight on key figures within the community and celebrities with a passion for hot rods and unique builds.
The redesign places significant emphasis on typography to instill a sense of intentional design and contemporaneity. High-end photography is also a major component, with the main story featuring either a striking headshot or an intimate vehicle close-up. The objective is to render the brand more cohesive and striking in its presentation.
